This is one of the longer stages on the last 100 km and takes you from Portomarín into the heart of the Comarca da Ulloa, arriving in Palas de Rei.
Route Description
Portomarín to Gonzar (8 km)
Leave Portomarín climbing up from the river. The first kilometres are a steady ascent through wooded paths. You pass through Gonzar, which has an albergue and a small café.

Gonzar to Ventas de Narón (5 km)
Continue through Castromaior, where you can see the remains of a Celtic hillfort. The trail then descends to Ventas de Narón, a small hamlet with a café known for its tortilla de patatas.
Ventas de Narón to Ligonde (4 km)
Rolling terrain through Lameiros and into Ligonde. The cemetery at Ligonde is one of the oldest pilgrim burial grounds on the Camino.
Ligonde to Palas de Rei (8 km)
The final section passes through Eirexe, Portos, and Lestedo before a gentle descent into Palas de Rei. You will cross the N-547 road and enter the town centre.
About Palas de Rei
Palas de Rei is a lively town with all services: supermarkets, pharmacies, restaurants, and banks with ATMs. The name means "Palace of the King" — legend says Visigothic kings held court here. Try the local tetilla cheese and Arzúa-Ulloa cheese, both with Denomination of Origin status.
