4. Romanesque Bridge of Leboreiro
In the small hamlet of Leboreiro, 11 km from Palas along the Camino. The medieval bridge over the River Seco and the church of Santa María form one of the most photographed settings on the Camino Francés. The tympanum of the church with the image of the Virgin deserves attention.
5. Romanesque Bridge of Furelos
13 km from Palas, another beautiful medieval bridge. This one has three arches over the River Furelos and is an essential stop for photographers on the Camino.
6. [Melide and Pulpo á Feira](/en/blog/melide-octopus-capital-camino)
Although technically Melide belongs to a different municipality, it's only 15 km away and is the undisputed capital of Galician octopus. Ezequiel, A Garnacha, Antoxo and Carmen are the best-known pulperías (octopus restaurants). The octopus is served on a wooden board with olive oil, coarse salt and paprika, accompanied by cachelos (boiled potatoes) and Ribeiro wine.
7. River Ulla and Ponte Ferreira
The River Ulla marks the southern boundary of the municipality. The Ponte Ferreira area is perfect for a peaceful walk along the river, with a medieval bridge and natural swimming spots in summer.
8. Pazo Route
The municipality of Palas de Rei has one of the highest concentrations of pazos (traditional Galician manor houses) in all of Galicia. Many are in small villages and can be discovered while walking the country lanes.
9. Local gastronomy
- Queso de Arzúa-Ulloa: PDO-certified cheese, creamy and mild
- Pulpo á feira: In Melide, the octopus capital
