From Santiago Airport to Palas de Rei
If you're coming to walk the Camino de Santiago or to visit the Palas de Rei area, you'll most likely land at Santiago de Compostela Airport (SCQ). It's about 58 km away and there are several ways to get there.
Option 1: Direct taxi (the most convenient)
The fastest and most comfortable option. A direct taxi from the airport to Palas de Rei takes about 45 minutes via the motorway.

Option 2: Bus
There is no direct bus from the airport to Palas de Rei. You would need to:
- Take the airport bus to Santiago city centre (Empresa Freire line, every 30 min)
- Go to the Santiago bus station
- Catch a Monbus service to Palas de Rei (2-3 departures per day)
- Total price: ~€15
- Total journey time: 2-3 hours (including waiting)
- Drawbacks: Limited timetables, two changes, no night service
Option 3: Train
There is no direct train either. You would need to:
- Bus from the airport to Santiago train station
- Train Santiago – Palas de Rei (Renfe regional service, 2-3 trains/day)
- Total price: ~€12
- Total journey time: 2-2.5 hours
- Note: Palas de Rei station is 2 km from the town centre
Option 4: Car rental
The main car rental companies have offices at the airport. Useful if you plan to travel around the area extensively.
