Santiago Airport to Sarria: 110 km

Sarria is the starting point for most pilgrims walking the last 100 km of the Camino de Santiago. The town is about 110 km east of Santiago de Compostela Airport (SCQ). Here are your options for getting there. Once you arrive, check out our guide to things to see in Sarria.

Option 1: Direct Taxi Transfer

The fastest and most convenient option, especially if you arrive late at night or with heavy luggage.

  • Time: 1 hour 15 minutes
  • Availability: 24/7, 365 days a year
  • Luggage: All luggage, backpacks, bicycles, and pets accommodated
  • Booking: Call or WhatsApp +34 659 99 31 39

Taxi Castro offers fixed-price transfers from Santiago airport to Sarria. The driver will meet you at the arrivals terminal with your name. The price is per vehicle, not per person, so it becomes very economical when shared between 2-4 pilgrims.

Option 2: Bus (Santiago → Lugo → Sarria)

There is no direct bus from the airport to Sarria. You need to:

  • Take the airport bus to Santiago bus station (30 minutes, €3)
  • Take a bus from Santiago to Lugo (ALSA, 2-3 hours, €10-15)
  • Take a bus from Lugo to Sarria (Monbus, 40 minutes, €4-6)

Total time: 4-5 hours including waiting

Total cost: €17-24

Drawback: Limited schedules, especially on weekends

Option 3: Train (Santiago → Sarria)

  • Take the airport bus to Santiago city centre
  • Walk or taxi to Santiago train station
  • Train Santiago → Sarria (Renfe, about 2.5 hours, €15-25)

Total time: 3.5-4 hours

Drawback: Only 2-3 trains per day on this route

Option 4: Rental Car

You can rent a car at Santiago airport, but parking in Sarria is limited and you would need to arrange a return trip for the car. Not recommended unless you are combining the Camino with a broader road trip in Galicia.

Our Recommendation

If you are arriving with a group of 2-4 pilgrims, a shared taxi transfer is the best value. Door-to-door, no changes, no waiting.
